Corinne Bousquet is engineer graduate of ENAC (Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile, Toulouse France). She is leading the ENAC team of experts in procedure design. This activity includes the operational design of flight procedure, the training of procedure designers and the development of a dedicated software.
After a brief description of the regulation context, the course will include basic elements of procedure design (design of arrival, approach and departure trajectories) based on conventional means of navigation in order to describe the constraints associated to the design process .
• Description of the main segments of arrival and approach trajectories
• Protection areas : wind effect, fix, tolerance areas, guidance tolerance
• Minimum Obstacle Clearance
• Aircraft categories
The main part of the lecture will focus on the RNAV navigation concepts and their influence on the navigation. The use of on board database will be introduced to understand their influence on safety.
The conclusion will describe the expected benefits of the RNAV in term of airspace management and navigation performances.
